World Youth Day 2011 is on in Madrid from 15 August to 22 2011. World Youth Day is a youth orientated Catholic Church event that takes place every two to three in cities around the globe. It was established to make the message of Christ known to all young people worldwide. World Youth Day encourages the younger generations to share their faith among one another and give them a chance to meet like minded pilgrims in the process. It all began in 1985, when Pope John Paul II invited all the youth to Rome to celebrate Palm Sunday in St. Peter’s Square. He declared this to be the first World Youth Day. In 2011, the Spanish capital of Madrid will be hosting this exciting event. Young people from around the globe will make a pilgrimage to this vibrant city. We pray for the success of this special occasion and remember the young people from the diocese.
Tracy Murray, Clounlaheen will be part of this special time of prayer during the coming week.
